Hey everyone!
Today I’m reviewing a gorgeous pigment from Illamasqua ~ Ore.
Price : £16.50 (approx. Rs 1560) for 1.3 g
My take on the Product
The Illamasqua pigment packaging is quite special looking but not the most user friendly. Its not the easiest to open and you can end up with pigment scattered all over if you pop it open with too much pressure. I wish it was a simpler, screw on top packaging with a sifter – it works best for loose powder products.
The pigment looks more chunky and glittery but it feels quite smooth to touch. I won’t say its very fine but it definitely feels finer than it looks. You can use it dry but I feel it works better and is easier to work with when used with a damp brush. A creamy/sticky base underneath further gives better surface for the pigment particles to latch on to. It wears a good 7-8 hours with no fall out or creasing on my lids when I apply it wet. Because its not too fine, it doesn’t fly around or fall out and is quite easy to use considering its a loose pigment. Its applies quite dense and even and gives a metallic look to the lids.
The color is described as a rich russet bronze by Illamasqua. I think its more antique gold especially when you apply it with a damp brush like I’ve done in this look. It has a bronzy gold base and contains multi-colored shimmer – green, dark burgundy and gold. This shade has so much dimension and looks so rich on the eyes, it is definitely one of the most unique and beautiful colors I’ve tried. I think it would make a great eye color for bridal/festive makeup! Highly recommended!
Applied with a damp brush on the lids. See tutorial for this look HERE -
The GOOD about Illamasqua Pigment Ore :
- Smooth texture
- Applies dense and uniform on the lids
- Can be used wet and dry
- Doesn’t fly around
- No creasing/fall out as it wears
- Wears long
- Rich color with loads of shimmer!
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Illamasqua Pigment Ore :

- Low quantity
- Not available in India – needs to be ordered online
Overall Verdict
Illamasqua Pigment Ore is a rich bronzy gold color with loads of gold, green and burgundy shimmer. The pigment has a smooth and even texture despite its very glittery appearance and adheres well to the lid – with better wear when applied with a damp brush. You don’t need a sticky base to get good wear out of this. The packaging is slightly cumbersome and the product quantity is quite less. But its a very unique and beautiful color and I’d recommend it to everyone!
